EAST Meeting including
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Presentation *
EAST members, please join us on Tuesday, November 8th at 4:15pm to 6:00pm at the EEA office on Coburg Road for an EAST meeting and presentation by Wendy Friedman, 4J Physical Therapy specialist.
This presentation explains the seriousness of brain injuries and how to support students with traumatic brain injuries. As you know it is important for every person involved with young people to know the best way to handle a ‘bump’ on the head.
This informational presentation on brain injuries is essential knowledge for all guest teachers.
*Attendees will receive 1 (one) PDU for this presentation

The benefits of membership in the Eugene Association of
Substitute Teachers (EAST) are valuable and include:
*Automatically becoming a member of NEA, the largest
professional association in the U.S. You also receive their publication.
*Liability Insurance: $1,000,000 for job related lawsuits.
*Free legal assistance during the grievance process.
*Access to the EEA UniServ Consultant, to ask questions and
get advice regarding your benefits and rights.
*Travel discounts and financial planning opportunities
including retirement.
*Home and auto loans.
*Access to professional development.
Take note! You are not automatically a dues-paying
member of EAST just because $30.03 is deducted from
your 4J paycheck. For any pay period in which you work
eight hours or more in District 4J a one-time dues or ‘fair
fee’ is deducted from your paycheck. This dues/fair fee
is automatically subtracted and only works for if you are a
member of EAST. If you have not
filled out and submitted
the simple membership form, you are paying the fair fee
and not dues. In other words, you are not a member of EAST.
No dues/fees are deducted if you work fewer than eight
hours in a pay period. So if, for instance, you take a long
term assignment in one of the other districts in the area no
dues/fees will be assessed during that assignment – you will
not be billed and you have no obligation to EAST
whatsoever. At the same time you are not taken off the
membership rolls until you notify us or are hired by District
4J. In addition, dues are tax deductible. It is good sense to
become a member of EAST and make sure you receive all the
benefits you have coming.
